This retreat is an opportunity to step away from the noise and come back to yourself — not through escape, but through deeper connection. It’s designed for anyone ready to move, breathe, reflect, and explore their own inner landscape with honesty, curiosity, and compassion.

Throughout the week, we’ll use a mix of mindful movement, breath-work, meditation, and somatic practices to help you soften, ground your nervous system, and clear space for insight to arise. Whether you’re new to yoga or have been practicing for years, you’ll be supported in building a relationship with your body and practice that feels authentic, empowering, and sustainable.

We’ll also explore more dynamic workshops — like inversions and arm balances — for those who want to challenge themselves physically, with plenty of guidance and optional modifications. Guest facilitators will lead special sessions in sound healing and more to be shared nearer the time, all adding depth and variety to the experience.

Outside the practice space, you’ll have plenty of un-rushed time to rest, laugh, explore nature, and connect with others in a way that feels genuine and authentic.

Wild Roots Retreats are about remembering what’s already within you, all you need to do is show up fully, just as you are.

Come home to yourself

The Venue

Nestled in the rice paddies of Ahangama and a short tuk-tuk to breathtaking beaches…

Your teacher & host

Hi Im Heather Horton, the founder of Wild Roots.

I created Wild Roots from a lifelong desire to be both grounded, safe and secure, yet adventurous, wild and free. Yoga taught me I didn’t need all the answers—only curiosity and the knowing that we are already whole.

My classes are intentional, embodied, and playful, informed by over 700 hours of training, 6 years of teaching and boundless devotion to the practice. Using the ancient tools of Yoga and Kashmir Shivaism Tantra, I hold space for you to find what feels authentic to you in this modern world, to connect with your innate wisdom, and to gently peel back the layers of limiting beliefs and conditioning, returning home to your true self.

I feel so privileged and grateful that I get to offer these incredible experiences, this prctice and bringing wonderful people together, there is no greater joy, I cannot wait to be there with you.

Room Options

There are plenty of room options on our Sri Lanka retreat, you can come with a friend or most people come alone and honestly… we recommend it!

Most rooms on retreat are designed to be shared, we think this allows us to create deeper connections with new friends, people have gone from strangers to roomies to each-others wedding guests the following year…. however if you would like your own room please reach out as soon as possible as we only have one of these.

  • If you need space away from daily noise — not to escape your life, but to come home to it rested and with more clarity

  • You desire a genuine, likeminded community & friendships

  • If you are curious about deepening your practice and connection to yourself

  • You seek to build an authentic and sustainable personal practice

  • If you want to honor your needs, truly unwind in a nurturing environment where you can drop the pressure, and simply be present.

This retreat is for you if…

What previous guests have said…

  • 'Felt like my eyes were open for the first time.'

A life affirming experience from start to finish. Heather guided us through a week of depth and beauty and nurtured our souls. I met friends for life and shared stories, incredible food, laughs and cries together. Felt like my eyes were open for the first time. The yoga practice made me feel embodied and varied everyday - no one day was the same. I felt safe and held and more myself. It was nice having a mix of activities and free time because the setting was paradise. A true adventure led by a caring, thoughtful curious and remarkable woman. Love you Heather <3

  • This trip was incredibly fulfilling for me on the physical, mental, and spiritual level.

Spiritually, Heather is just a warm, nourishing, soul. Every interaction with her felt like a bear hug and coming back to home.

  • The Wild Roots retreat was everything I could've asked for and more.

I was in a place in my life where I needed a reset, and this retreat was exactly what I needed. The beautiful location, new friendships, and vibrant energy allowed me to step away from the stressors of life and ground myself so that I could return refreshed.

  • The vibe is so inclusive and magical.

Heather created and hosted the most perfect retreat. More than you could ever want, everything was considered and it felt so well thought out and intentional. We had the most amazing group of people, and I know that we'll all stay in touch and go on the next retreats together. If you're even considering going on one of Wild Roots' retreats, just go! I couldn't recommend it enough, everyone was so warm and welcoming, don't feel like you'll be alone if you don't know anyone, the vibe is so inclusive and magical.

  • I can’t stress enough how wonderful the week was, I’d go again in a heartbeat.

Going on the Wild Roots retreat was a beautiful experience I’m so grateful for. Heather’s classes are heavenly, I’m not a particularly experienced yogi and I felt challenged and nurtured in equal measure. I wasn’t expecting to meet so many wonderful people and make genuine friendships!

Heather created a really equal and welcoming environment. Being surrounded by nature and like-minded people with was so unbelievably refreshing.

  • Wild roots and wild roots retreats feel like home.

The minute you arrive, Heather makes you feel comfortable like you’ve known her for years and is a ray of sunshine!

  • Without Heather I may have never given yoga a shot & for that I am forever grateful.

Heather is one of a kind. Her patience and good natures spirit during a retreat led me to find my inner yogi. Never having taken a class, I was a bit anxious but I felt totally comfortable and at ease with her guidance and coaching. Whether your are a newbie like me or an expert she finds options and challenges to push you to your tolerance and strengthen your experience. Without Heather I may have never given it a shot & for that I am forever grateful.
