This workshop blends the two profound, complementary practices of Yin & Myofascial release to create a wholesome somatic experience that softens tension throughout the body and supports in soothing the nervous system - creating space for release and leaving you feeling lighter, grounded, and deeply restored.
You do not need to be an experienced practitioner, this is a gentle practice for absolutely everyone, whether you want to deepen your flexibility, rest & restore or you are really stiff and need to start somewhere, this is for you.
WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL RELEASE?
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a slow, therapeutic massage technique that works with the body’s fascia - the web-like connective tissue that wraps around muscles, bones, organs and nerves.
When fascia becomes tight, dehydrated or stuck (through stress, injury, repetitive movement or emotional holding), it can create restriction, pain or reduced mobility - even in areas far from the original tension.
In this soothing and meditative workshop we will use small therapy balls, along with larger softer Yamuna balls and you will be guided to compassionately and effectually massage yourself.
WHAT IS EMBODIED YIN?
Embodied Yin is a slow, somatic practice rooted in traditional Yin, but with a more intuitive approach. Working with a few postured you’re invited to move, adjust, soften and support yourself as you need, you don’t have to be completely still. Sometimes letting go of the expectation to be still is what actually allows the body to relax.
We use plenty of props so the body can feel supported and settle, allowing the muscles to release and the deeper tissues to be gently nourished. Holding shapes for time creates space for nervous system regulation, shifting into rest, digest, and repair and offering a quiet place to process and let go.
WHAT TO EXPECT
slow rolling (often with balls or props)
mindful posture holds
Intuitive embodied movement
nurturing movement
breath awareness
BENEFITS
Soften and rehydrate the tissue, helping it regain elasticity and glide.
Improved mobility & range of motion and enhanced flexibility
Releasing tight, tender spots (trigger points) throughout the body
Improved Circulation. The techniques stimulate blood flow to the affected areas, which aids in healing, reduces inflammation, and boosts oxygen delivery.
Rest and soothe the nervous system
Creating space for the nervous system space to down-regulate so the tissue can unwind.
It’s a practice of deep listening. Of bridging sensation and awareness. An antidote to constant distractions and doing.
